Brazil Cerrado Fazenda Plato Azul

Description

Our current Brazil is sourced from Fazenda Palto Azul, located in the Cerrado Mineiro region, a protected origin within the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Fazenda Palto Azul is owned by Elio Carneiro.

Cerrado refers to a frost-free highland savanna. The weather patterns in the area are fairly mild which provides a more predictable climate for growing and processing coffee. Coffees in this region are grown on high plateaus at elevations of 850 to 1100 meters in a clay mineral type of soil. Fazenda Palto Azul has a total area more than 7,000 acres with about 2,400 acres being cultivated with coffee and most of the remaining acreage as protected forest. Coffee from this estate is grown at 1,050 meters and they utilize a rain catchment system and drip irrigation lines to deliver carefully measured moisture and nutrients to the coffee plants. The coffee is processed in the pulped natural (“honey”) style and dried in the sun.

Soft, sweet aroma with hints of vanilla, pastry and marzipan. Smooth, light body. In the cup nuances of vanilla cream, milk chocolate, and butterscotch with subtle notes of almond and cherry.
